Fire destroys house in north

A fire early Tuesday destroyed a house in Bourne. Fire Department crew from Portsmouth responded, but noted with concern that that people didn't report the fire immediately.

Fuel shortage

Petrol supplies around the island have become scarce following regional supply problems. Long lines had formed at many gas stations. Supplies should be back to normal 'in a few days or so', according to a local supplier.

14 years for murder

Gavin George of Calibishie has been found guilty of the murder of a man from Vieille Case in 2010. Junior Joseph died from stab wounds after an altercation with George, who claimed self-defence.

No sugar

Brown sugar supplies on the island have dried up following supply problems with the source in Guyana. Other islands in the region are also affected. White sugar supplies are not affected, and have been boosted to help cover the brown sugar problem.
